TCU Debuts Sped-Up Offense Against Samford

TCU coach Gary Patterson looks forward to seeing how the Horned Frogs' new sped-up offense does in a game.

That comes Saturday night in a home season opener against FCS playoff team Samford. The defensive-minded coach is also a bit guarded since the Bulldogs have eight returning defensive starters.

The Frogs also have a lot of returning starters on defense, but there are drastic changes on offense.

There are new co-coordinators Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie, and a choice of Trevone Boykin or Texas A&M graduate transfer Matt Joeckel to be the starting quarterback. Patterson says both quarterbacks will play in the opener.

Samford is coached by former TCU coach Pat Sullivan, who isn't making the trip to Fort Worth because of complications from neck surgery in April.
