Stars Sign Vance, Ritchie to 3-Year Deals

Forward, defenseman get entry-level contracts

    The Dallas Stars signed forward Brett Ritchie and defenseman Troy Vance to three-year entry-level contracts Wednesday through the 2014-15 season.

    Ritchie, 19, split the 2011-12 season between the Sarnia Sting and Niagara Ice Dogs of the Ontario Hockey League, posting a combined 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) and a plus-27 rating in 53 games. He collected 11 points (3 goals, 11 assists) in 19 games for Niagara in the 2012 OHL Playoffs.
    The 6-foot-3, 190-pound native of Orangeville, Ontario, has played three seasons in the OHL, recording 112 points (57 goals and 55 assists) and 131 PIM in 164 career games. Ritchie was drafted by Dallas in the second round (No. 44 overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
    Vance, 19, spent the 2011-12 season with the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, recording 24 points (four goals, 20 assists) with 45 PIM and a plus-17 rating in 57 games played. In 13 career QMJHL playoff games, he has notched six points (one goal, five assists) and eight PIM.
    The 6-foot-5, 203-pound native of Goshen, New York, was originally drafted by Dallas in the fifth round (No. 135 overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
