The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka to a three-year, entry level contract, through the 2014-15 season.
Jokipakka, 20, skated in 52 games for Ilves Tampere of the Finnish Elite League in 2011-12, leading all defensemen in scoring with 9 goals, 8 assists and 17 points.
His 17 points were also a career high, surpassing his previous best in 2009-10 when he registered 3 goals, 12 assists for 15 points in 38 games for the Ilves Under-20 club.
The 6-foot-3, 193-pound defenseman from Tampere, Finland, was Dallas' seventh-round selection (195th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Jokipakka is scheduled to participate in this year's Stars Summer Development Camp, which is slated to take place at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco from July 5-12.
