Stars Sale “Very Close”: Report

Tom Hicks unloaded the Texas Rangers, thankfully, now he's about to get the Dallas Stars off his financial books.

Forbes.com blogger Michael Ozanian says the deal to get Hicks out is "very close."

According to the report, Hicks is about to sell the team and his 50% interest in the American Airlines Center for as much as $300 million.

Stars Blogger Mark Stepneski reported that Calgary oilman Bill Gallacher and Vancouver businessman Tom Gaglardi are apparently the leading candidates to buy the team.

Hicks paid $84 million for the Stars in 1996.
