Spieth Leads After Third Round At Colonial

Jordan Spieth has his first professional win in the state of Texas in his sights.

After an impressive third round at the Dean and DeLuca Invitational Saturday, Spieth is 12-under par and has a one-shot lead going into Sunday’s final round.  The Dallas-native tallied six birdies on the day, including a chip-in birdie on the 11th hole.

“I was in a lot of tough situations today, but I feel like I’m striking the ball well,” Spieth said to the Golf Channel after his third round.  “I’m just trying to stay consistent.”

The former University of Texas and Dallas Jesuit High School star has won seven PGA Tour victories in his career, the last coming in January at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.  Spieth will play with another Texas-native in the final round Sunday, Ryan Palmer.

“It’ll be a lot of fun,” Spieth said.  “If I played ten practice rounds, I played seven of them with Ryan Palmer.  We talk a lot of smack when we play together, and I don’t think (Sunday) will be any different.”
