Karl de Zoeten and Mac McGuire both scored goals to lead Southlake Carroll to a 2-0 win over Round Rock McNeil and the boys 5A state soccer championship.
Twenty minutes into the second half on Saturday, de Zoeten scored off a header from teammate Alex Petit's corner kick. Then with 3:38 left to play, McGuire nailed his goal in the back left pocket of the net to put the Dragons up 2-0.
But before McGuire's goal, Round Rock McNeil punched back admirably. Nothing would get past Southlake goalkeeper Oshick Shams though, whose diving saves and one-handed grabs earned him the game's MVP honor.
The victory gave Southlake its first state championship since 2001.
