South Garland Standout Commits to Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State’s men’s basketball team is adding one of the top high school players in Texas.

South Garland guard Chris Harris Jr. committed to the Cowboys on Thursday afternoon.

“I feel Oklahoma State was the place for me," said Harris Jr. "They gave me the opportunity to play at the next level and I felt like they were going to use me to my full potential.”

Harris Jr. made his big announcement in front of family and friends at his junior high school.

“I grew up here," said Harris Jr. "I played football, basketball and ran track so might as well come to my old stomping grounds and show where I'm going to college.”

Harris Jr. chose the Cowboys over Texas Tech and Texas A&M. He originally signed with the Aggies but was released from his National Letter of Intent after A&M fired head coach Billy Kennedy last month.

He is the 13th-ranked basketball prospect in the state of Texas for the 2019 class, according to 247Sports.com.
