Someone New Could Own the Rangers This Afternoon

As the deadline quickly approaches for the MLB imposed sale of the Texas Rangers franchise, three bidders are in the heat to control the team.

Houston businessman Jim Crane, former sports agent Dennis Gilbert, and Pittsburgh attorney Chuck Greenberg have bids that analysts say are among the choices current owner Tom Hicks will select from before seeking final approval by 75 percent of MLB owners.

Crane's initial bid was thought to be out of the running, however a second bid, reported by the Star-Telegram, is apparently higher than either of the others and may put Crane back in the running

The deadline for a decision is 3 p.m. December 15.
