American shot-putter Michelle Carter is heading to the Summer Olympics for the second time.

Red Oak High School is hosting her send-off Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Friends, family and fans are all invited to come out to Red Oak High School’s Performing Arts Center to wish her the best of luck at winning the gold medal.

Michelle's accolades include the silver medal at the 2001 World Youth Championships and the gold medal at the 2004 World Junior Championships. 

She finished 15th at the 2008 Olympic Games.

Her father Michael Carter is also a former Olympian, and both father and daughter hold the current National High School Record in the shot put, the only such father and daughter situation.

Michelle set her record in 2003 while winning the Texas state championship, her father's record has been unchallenged since 1979.
