North Texan Officially Retires from WNBA After Playoff Loss

A basketball star from North Texas played her final professional basketball game Wednesday night.

Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings is now officially retired the team's 89-78 playoff loss to the Phoenix Mercury.

The 37-year-old Catchings graduated from Duncanville High School in 1997 and went on to help lead the University of Tennesse to two national championships.

The Fever drafted Catchings in the first round of the WNBA Draft in 2002. During her 14 seasons there, she was a 7-time All-WNBA selection and also earned the league Rookie of the Year and MVP awards.

Catchings also won four Olympic gold medals playing for Team USA.
