No Halladay for Rangers at Deadline

The Rangers interest in the Blue Jays ace was a hot topic on sports radio this week.
The non-waiver trading deadline passed Friday without any deals by the Rangers, who had been dickering with the Toronto Blue Jays for pitcher Roy Halladay.
The MLB trade deadline was 3 p.m. central time.
Late Thursday night the Rangers thought they may be close to a deal, but those talks fell apart overnight, MLB.com reported Friday.
The Blue Jays were interested in Texas' Derek Holland, who struck out 10 while only allowed two hits during Thursday night's 7-1 win over the Mariners.
Texas was apparently unwilling to deal Holland, killing any hope for a trade for the star Blue Jays pitcher.
"Obviously, we'd like to have him. But there are players who are part of our future we'd like to retain ... When you talk about Halladay, you're going to have to give up somebody you don't want to part with," Rangers president Nolan Ryan told USA Today.
The Jays were also interested in pitcher Tommy Hunter, 1B Justin Smoak and OF Julio Borbon as well as a young catcher -- but
Holland was at the top of their wish list, MLB.com reported.
With the Rangers out of it, Halladay could still be dealt to the Red Sox, Yankees and Dodgers, who are all actively seeking the pitcher. In all, 13 clubs have expressed interest in Halladay, the Wall-Street Journal reported.
