In a season-ending countdown, we'll weigh in on the six most disappointing Rangers in what was arguably the most disappointing season in franchise history.
No. 1: Alex Rios, OF
2014 stats: .280 batting average, .311 on-base percentage, .398 slugging percentage, four home runs, 54 RBIs, 30 doubles, eight triples, 17 stolen bases in 131 games
So, those stats, on first glance, aren't completely awful. In fact, his on-base percentage was basically in line with his career number, which isn't too good. The batting average was the same. But when you break down Rios' season you see how disappointing he was.
Over the first half of the season, Rios looked like a team MVP candidate. Over the second half, which ended about a month early because of a thumb injury, he looked like a fourth outfielder, and a struggling one at that.
And over the course of the entire season, his power numbers took a significant nosedive as his four home runs represented his lowest total since his rookie season in Toronto, if you don't count his 2009 season when he played in just 41 games.
In the season's first half, Rios hit .305 with eight triples, four homers, 42 RBIs and 16 stolen bases. In the second half, which for Rios was comprised of 37 games, hit .211 with a .246 on-base percentage, no triples, no homers, 12 RBIs and just one stolen base.

It was an awful end to what looked to be such a promising season and it put his future with the club in serious limbo after it appeared he'd definitely be back given his standout first half.
