Darren McFadden has taken all kinds of heat this year, especially during the Cowboys' seven-game losing skid that coincided with Tony Romo's broken clavicle.
Of course, Romo returned on Sunday, and of course, the Cowboys' losing streak came to an end.
But a lot of the reason the Cowboys are now 3-7 instead of 2-8 is the play of McFadden on Sunday, as he put together perhaps one of his best games as a pro and definitely his best game as a Cowboys running back in a year when he's been pretty dang good the whole time.
McFadden was huge on blitz pickup on Sunday, but that's not what grabs the headlines and what people remember — McFadden ran the ball like a boss, like DeMarco Murray did in 2014 so many times.
In all, he finished the game with 129 yards on 29 carries — a workmanlike, boss effort from the veteran who's battled injury problems his whole career but has stayed relatively healthy this year and has been a workhorse. He ran downhill and used his great offensive line just like Murray did.
McFadden's play on the last drive of the game was huge as the Cowboys killed the clock and any chance the Dolphins would have at a comeback. It was a thing of beauty, and while the line deserves a ton of credit, McFadden does, too.
