If the NBA picks him and he agrees he would be the 3rd Maverick to be in the contest. The last player was Michael Finley in 1997. Finley still works for the Mavs, He came in 3rd place in 1997.

Before him it was Tony Dumas in 1995  and he has a small piece of history in that he hurt a knee while trying to do a dunk he called the “Texas Twister.” That fueled the fire for players who believe that being in the dunk contest is an unnecessary risk to their bodies.
