Mavs Expect Haywood To Be Ready For Game 3

Brendan Haywood injured his right hip early in the fourth quarter Thursday night.

Dallas Mavericks’ backup center Brendan Haywood left the floor early in the fourth quarter of Game Two Thursday night with a hip injury--officially being called a right hip flexor injury--but according to a team official, the Mavs expect Haywood to be ready to go for Sunday’s Game Three in Dallas.

Haywood is officially listed as day-to-day, but aside from the remarks made by the unnamed team official, there is some good evidence to suggest that Haywood won’t miss any action as the series progresses.

He returned to the bench on Thursday night after getting stretched out in the locker room, but did not return to the game.

Haywood was injured after grabbing Miami’s Udonis Haslem in the fourth quarter, after which the backup center walked off the court. He finished Game Two with two points and no rebounds over eight minutes.
