Marinelli, Linehan Among Highest Paid Assistants in NFL

Rod Marinelli and Scott Linehan each agreed to three-year deals with Dallas last week

Last week, when the Dallas Cowboys signed Rod Marinelli to stay on a defensive coordinator and Scott Linehan, to take over the title of offensive coordinator after a year as passing game coordinator and offensive playcaller, Jerry Jones made the pair a couple of the highest paid assistants in the NFL.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, Marinelli will earn $2 million a year for the next three years. In that same span, Linehan will get $2.1 million a year.

“There’s a little bit of ambiguity as to your information, and its definition,” Jones said. “If [Marinelli]’s not, he’s right there with the top two or three, but again, as you get to a certain point you can have a little phantom numbers one way or the other. I think he is one of the top and I know Scott is as well.

“Both of these guys will be right there in the handful of top coordinators. And I would say I expected that.”
