Plans to bring more competitive horse racing to Dallas could be on hold.

Owners of the Dallas City Limits Property Company want to build a $10 million Class 2 race track just outside of Lancaster.  Businessman David Alameel and state representative Yvonne Davis claim to be those owners, though a lawsuit against the pair suggests they are not the sole owners.

Dallas County is already home to another horse racing track, Lone Star Park. The proposed track is a Class 2 track, meaning the number of race days in a calendar year does not exceed 44 days.  A Class 1 track races for a minimum of 45 days in the calendar year.

The Texas Racing Commission said the lawsuit could delay the license application, stalling the plan.
