Last Two Standing Were Both Left For Dead

Let the 2014 season and the subsequent playoffs serve as a lesson to those who wanted to write off two of the league's better teams over recent years.

Back in Week 7, the Seahawks followed up a shocking home loss to the Dallas Cowboys with a road defeat at the hands of the lowly St. Louis Rams to drop their record to 3-3, a game that coincided with the trade of their most explosive player in Percy Harvin and a game that had many wondering if the Seahawks were even a playoff team given the division mate Cardinals' hot start to the season.

That same week, the Patriots narrowly edged a bad Jets team to avoid falling to 4-3 just a few weeks after an embarrassing 41-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs that saw the Patriots bench Tom Brady, partly out of poor performance and partly just to likely avoid an injury in a blowout.

Either way, at some point earlier this season, both of these teams were left for dead by the league and in many respects, by their own fan bases. Now, they're the last two teams standing and the Seahawks are looking to become the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champs since Tom Brady and the Patriots did it more than a decade ago.
