Kenny Hill Named TCU's Starting Quarterback

Gary Patterson announced that Texas A&M transfer Kenny Hill will start TCU's opening game.

Kenny Hill is the starting quarterback for Texas Christian University's season opener against South Dakota State, as announced by head coach Gary Patterson on Thursday.

The decision was seemingly made several days prior, but Patterson just shared the news with the media.

Hill transferred to TCU from Texas A&M after beginning the 2014 season as the Aggies' starting quarterback. Ultimately, Hill's mobility won him the TCU job over the other quarterback fighting for the starting spot, Foster Sawyer.

"It's what he came here for," said Patterson. "You know, Kenny has a lot to prove. But as I told him, our job is just to win. It's not to put up big numbers, not to do anything else."

Patterson allowed co-offensive coordinators Sonny Combie and Doug Meacham to make the quarterback call after working closely with all the signal callers.

"I still believe you got to have two [quarterbacks]. Foster is out of [the] mix, but right now that's how we'll go forward," Patterson said.

Hill is a Southlake Carroll Senior High School graduate and the son of former Texas Rangers pitcher Ken Hill.
