Kennedy Scores Career-High 22, SMU Beats South Florida 63-52

Markus Kennedy was 10 of 12 from the field with a career-high 22 points on Wednesday night as SMU won its seventh straight, 63-52 over South Florida.

Yanick Moreira added 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kennedy grabbed seven boards. SMU (17-4, 8-1 American) took a 52-40 lead on Moreira's dunk, capping an 8-0 run with 7:52 left. South Florida (7-14, 1-7) got no closer than seven points from there.

SMU's leading scorer, Nic Moore (15.2 points per game), struggled from the field with 2-of-11 shooting for seven points, but had six assists.

Corey Allen Jr. and Nehemias Morillo scored 18 apiece for South Florida. Allen was 4 for 7 from 3-point range and Morillo was 3 for 5.

USF opened the game with a 9-2 burst, but SMU responded with an 11-3 run to take its first lead and closed the half up 32-25.
