Justin Durant Has Big Day Against Giants

Durant recorded eight tackles, recovered a fumble and forced another on Sunday

Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli was full of praise for linebacker and defensive captain Justin Durant after Sunday’s 31-21 victory over the visiting New York Giants.

Durant had eight tackles, recovered one fumble and forced another. The recovered fumble led to a Dallas touchdown and the forced fumble, recovered by defensive tackle Henry Melton, sealed the victory.

He’s a terrific linebacker. Everybody is seeing it right now,” Marinelli said, per the Dallas Morning News. “He is our captain. He’s a heck of a ball player. He’s aware, heady, fits our system to a T.”

Durant himself wasn’t content with the Cowboys’ defensive performance.

“We had a bad game. We didn’t play our game,” Durant said. “I felt like we gave up a lot of stuff. A couple of those plays were definitely on me. I have to clean up what I’m doing and get my eyes right. We have a lot of stuff to get better at.”
