The Dallas Stars did some defenseman shuffling on Monday, with general manager Jim Nill announcing that Jordie Benn would be placed on the injured reserve list retroactive to the Jan. 16 matchup with the Ducks in Anaheim, and Esa Lindell would be recalled from the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Benn leads all Stars defensemen in hits, and he’s third on the team in blocked shots.
Lindell, 21, had seven goals in 42 games in the AHL, enough to share the team lead for defensemen. His 25 points led all Texas Stars defensemen.
Per NHL rules, Benn can return seven days after when he was placed on IR. He had actually just returned from a lower body injury that cost him two games when he was injured in Anaheim on Friday.
