Jerry Not Sure Why Romo Was Never Pulled

Tony Romo played the entire game on Thursday, despite it getting out of reach pretty early

The most discussed topic of this Dallas Cowboys season, understandably so, has been the health of quarterback Tony Romo.

Of course, Romo entered the season coming off surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back. The team eased him back into action in training camp and have limited the amount of work he gets in practice ever since--then he suffered a pair of transverse process fractures in the back a month ago, which only made the staff all that more cautious.

So why was Romo still in the game late in the fourth quarter on Thursday, with the Cowboys down 33-10 to the Eagles, and well out of it?

Don’t ask Jerry Jones. Because, as he told 105.3-FM The Fan on Friday, he doesn’t know.

“Probably sitting here today, everybody agrees [that Romo shouldn’t have been out there at that point], but that wasn’t consistent in our thinking,” Jones said via the Dallas Morning News. “If you’re going to have him out there then give you the best chance to win it. Probably if Tony had to do it over again he would’ve been more aggressive in the game. He would’ve asked [Scott] Linehan to be more aggressive in his play calling. But we thought the way to beat this team, and I still think the way to beat them, is to basically keep our defense off the field as much as we can. I’m not answering your question because I don’t have an answer.”
