Jerry: Brandon Carr “In Our Top Consideration”

The Dallas Cowboys would like Brandon Carr to take less money in 2015, but they maintain that they love him and want him back.

Carr’s base salary next season is $8 million, and he’s coming off the first season of his career in which he didn’t record a single interception. Carr’s agent Ben Dogra said earlier this offseason that his client won’t take a pay cut, but it could come down to that or being designated a post-June 1 cut.

The Cowboys would much prefer keeping Carr around.

“Without getting vague here, all contracts that we don’t have closure on are a priority,” owner and general manager Jerry Jones said this week, per the Dallas Morning News. “He certainly is a player who is in our top consideration. So yeah, I’d say that’s a priority. We want him on the football field.”

Meanwhile, Carr’s stance all offseason has been, essentially: I’m happy to be here and I’m here until I’m not.

“I’m a Cowboy,” Carr said. “I love being a Cowboy. As long as I’m in this building I’m going to give it my all. I love playing the game of football.”
