Fresh off an airplane from Denver to Dallas, Teddi Story made it to work on Monday with a big smile.
Story, who is chief executive officer at Irving Cares, was greeted by her coworkers who wore purple shirts.
Why purple?
"Purple for the Colorado Rockies," Story said. "Our town has embraced Trevor and it's really great fun."
Trevor Story, a graduate of Irving High School, is a Rockies rookie shortstop who won the starting job out of spring training.
Yes, he makes time for his mom.
"He calls every Wednesday. That's our day," Teddi Story said. "He called and he said your baby is going to be the opening day shortstop for the Rockies, and we were just so happy for him."

Trevor Story went on to set a major-league record by hitting home runs in his first four games. He also set a record by hitting seven homers in his first six career games.
Major League Baseball's National League just named Story the player of the week.
"You want your kid to grow up, be happy and accomplish their dreams, but this dream is on a national scale," Teddi Story said. "I was so thankful we were there and be there with him while it was happening."
