Injured All-Star Tyler Seguin Skating Again

It's the first time Seguin has been on the ice since aggravating an achilles injury in Game 2 of the first round

Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin was on the ice at the team’s practice facility on Monday for the first time since aggravating his achilles injury in Game 2 of the opening round against the Minnesota Wild.

Stars coach Lindy Ruff said he won’t travel to St. Louis with the team for Games 3 and 4, but it is still a major step toward Seguin returning to action.

Asked about the All-Star’s progress last week, general manager Jim Nill allowed only that Seguin had not started skating yet, and that it would be 4-5 days after he did start skating before the team would consider plugging him back into the lineup.

Based on Nill’s estimate, there’s a chance Seguin could play next Saturday, when the series returns to Dallas for Game 5. But then again, that’s based on an off-the-cuff timetable given by Nill, and assuming Seguin doesn’t have any setbacks.

Seguin suffered a partially cut achilles on March 17 and missed most of the final month of the regular season. He returned in Game 2 of the opening round against the Blues, but suffered an injury related to that initial injury and hasn’t played since.
