Hamilton Sticks it to Angels in Best Possible Way

Look, it's no secret that Josh Hamilton isn't the player he was back in the glory years with Texas from 2009-2012, or actually half of 2012.

He isn't an everyday player now, but he can still be a contributor. On Thursday night, he showed that in spades as he stuck it to the team that gave up on him and traded him back to his old team whose fans turned on him (rightfully so) for pennies on the dollar.

In the top of the second inning, Hamilton saved a run with maybe the catch of the year by a Rangers outfielder on a sharp would-be double from Shane Victorino, crashing into the wall after sliding. He got up, threw a dart to Elvis Andrus, who threw a dart to the plate to almost gun down Albert Pujols at home. The play scored one run for the Angels, but it saved another from scoring.

Then, in the seventh inning, Hamilton had a key insurance run on a rocket sac fly to center that probably would've fallen if not for Mike Trout patrolling the landscape.

So to recap: The Angels paid $110 million for two years of Josh Hamilton, and paid him to save a run and score a run against them in a two-run loss that ended their division title hopes.

Sleep well, Arte Moreno.
