Gymnastics Olympic Trials Inspire North Texas Boys

The 2016 United States Olympic gymnastics trials, which helps determine the men's and women's team for the Rio Games, is inspiring young North Texas athletes to dream big.

"These guys are the future Olympians right here, right now," said Texas Champions Gymnastics coach Logan Doughty. "We have some great gymnastics here in North Texas."

Doughty is in charge of the boy's program at the Plano-based gym.

"Some of our boys are here four to five days a week, three to four hours at a time," said Doughty.

Doughty has 12 boys on his team who compete locally and nationally. He's produced several state champions.

"It's my goal and it's my life," said gymnast Nolan Crowder. "My goal is to be in the 2024 Olympics."

Nolan, 11, started gymnastics six years ago. He dedicates four hours a day at the gym.

"It takes a lot of practice. If you break it down into little parts, it's easy," said Crowder, who spent Friday evening watching the Olympic trials after practice. "I want to learn from them. I want to win a gold medal one day."
