Don't get me wrong, Dez Bryant isn't having a bad year, but when you went into this season, you had to expect a huge season from Bryant as the Cowboys' offense looked to be unstoppable even back in July.
Through seven games, Bryant has 590 yards and four touchdowns. Those aren't the numbers we quite expected from Dez, but they're not really pedestrian either. It's what Dez hasn't done that has been so commendable this year.
You haven't heard a peep from Dez about wanting the ball more, and to be fair it's easy to be happy when your team is winning and riding high like the Cowboys are. But Bryant has also played a key role in the emergence of Terrance Williams, who has 338 yards but six touchdowns. Even Gavin Escobar has emerged as a red-zone target and has three touchdowns in the last two weeks.
And you know what else? Bryant has had a big part in DeMarco Murray's MVP start, opening up running lanes with defenses being forced to choose between stacking the box and trying to contain the Cowboys' passing game.
Again, Bryant's numbers are very solid, but they aren't quite the 700 yards and six or seven touchdowns we might have expected from him at this point in the season. Yet, the results have spoken for themselves.
