Galarraga Misses Out on Baseball's Perfect Club

DETROIT - Detroit's Armando Galarraga just missed becoming the 21st player to pitch a perfect game in Major League baseball history because of a questionable call at first base on what would've been the final out of the game.

Galarraga (2-1) struck out three batters and got a huge catch from outfielder Austin Jackson in the ninth inning when Mark Grudzielanek crushed a ball into the gap in left centerfield, but Jackson made a spectacular running grab.

Two batters later, Jason Donald hit a bouncing ball toward first base. As Galarraga went to cover the base, he made the catch, but first base umpire Jim Joyce called Donald safe.

More details to come.
