The TCU Horned Frogs play the Rose Bowl for the first time in school history. Good.

The TCU Horned Frogs will wear new uniforms designed by Nike in the first Rose Bowl in school history. Bad.

The specially designed unis look like something out of a futuristic video game, but let’s consider old school for a moment.

TCU’s traditional dominant color has been purple. The new uniforms take purple out of the jersey and helmet and relegate the regal hue to the pant stripes, belt, socks, and shoelaces, and that seems just a bit too cutely accessorized for a football suit.

The pants look like some odd combination of newsprint and camouflage, same for the jersey numbers, and the … wait, what ... purple socks?

The gloves shown in the photo accompanying the ESPNDallas story look to have been stolen from Michael Jackson.

Ugh, Nike knows this is a real football game, right, and not a scene out of some Tron-Rollerball-Longest-Yard mashup?
