Free, Martin Held Out of Practice Again

The Cowboys were without the right side of their starting offensive line in practice on Thursday

The Dallas Cowboys were once again without right tackle Doug Free and right guard Zack Martin in practice on Thursday, according to the Dallas Morning News, throwing their availability for Sunday’s matchup with the Colts into some question.

Free suffered a sprained left ankle in last Sunday’s 38-21 victory over the Eagles and was forced to miss the entire second half. Martin suffered a sprained right ankle early in that game but played through the injury and finished the game.

Perhaps because he was able to finish, the Cowboys are more optimistic about Martin’s chances of playing than Free’s. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones said earlier in the week that he’s hopeful that Free will be able to play, but acknowledged that he could be held out for a week.

If Free can’t play, he’ll be replaced by Jermey Parnell, who has already made three starts on the season.
