You Must be Bad to Get Canned in Preseason

Former Cowboys head coach no longer Chief's offensive guru.

How bad does your offense have to be to get fired only a couple of games into preseason?

Chan Gailey got the boot as Kansas City's offensive coordinator because his offense stunk.

The  Kansas City Chiefs have not won in preseason and in three games they've only scored 33 points.

Chan Gailey has been relieved of his duties as Chiefs offensive coordinator, although it was unclear Monday morning whether he would remain with the team in some other capacity.

Coach Todd Haley, who was the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive coordinator before coming to the Chiefs, appeared unhappy with the play-calling Saturday night in the Chiefs’ 14-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks at Arrowhead Stadium.

At Monday morning’s practice, Haley was directing the offense, while Gailey was nowhere to be seen.

Gailey was head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for two seasons in 1998 and 1999.
