Firm Tied to Cowboys Facility Collapse Seeks Protection

The parent company of the firm that built the Dallas Cowboys' ruined practice facility says it has filed for protection from its creditors under Canadian law governing bankruptcies.

In statement issued from its Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, headquarters, Cover-All Building Systems Inc. said it will seek to restructure its financial affairs under court supervision while continuing "limited operations." The filing was made under Canada's Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.

A Cover-All subsidiary, Summit Structures LLC of Allentown, Pa., was responsible for the steel and fabric Cowboys' facility that collapsed in a wind storm last May.

The disaster left team scout Rich Behm paralyzed from the waist down and caused special teams coach Joe DeCamillas to suffer a broken vertebrae. Both have filed lawsuits accusing Cover-All, Summit and others of gross negligence.
