Dirk Nowitzki was named a captain of Team World in the NBA's second annual Africa Game.

Team World's full roster will be announced later this summer, but Nowitzki will team up with co-captains C.J. McCollum, of the Portland Trailblazers, and Kemba Walker, of the Charlotte Hornets.

The team will face Team Africa, captained by Luol Deng, of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Thabo Sefolosha, of the Oklahoma City Thunder on Aug. 5, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The game follows the 15th edition of Basketball without Borders Africa, where NBA coaches and players educate young players from Africa on the game of basketball and important issues, such as education and HIV/AIDS prevenetion.

Salah Mejri, Mavericks center from Tunisia, said earlier this season he would also consider participating in the event.

The NBA Africa Game 2017 is supported by UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and SOS Children's Villages South Africa. The game will take place at the Ticketpro Dome - tickets will be available Thursday, June 22 at 3 a.m. CST.

Dirk also plays in the Frisco RoughRiders Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game on Saturday, June 24.
