Dez Bryant Watch: Dez Begins Light Running

Dez Bryant has been sidelined with a broken foot since the season opener

It’s been awhile since we had any news on the Dez Bryant front, but Jason Garrett announced this week that Bryant had started to do some light running, the first step in his return from a broken bone in his foot that required surgery and has kept him sidelined since the season opener.

The Cowboys announced after the injury that they believed Bryant would return on October 25 against the Giants--a game that comes after the bye next week--and stood by their timetable even when others doubted whether the All-Pro receiver could return that quickly, if at all this season.

Getting in condition without putting too much stress and strain on his foot, so he has not been out running routes or anything like that up to this point,” Garrett said, per Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas. “There are different ways to run where you can kind of get yourself in as good a shape as possible leading up to it, so he’s been involved in that.”

Bryant suffered the injury on September 13 and had surgery on September 14. He had five catches for 48 yards in the opener when he was injured.
