With last month's firing of head coach Mike Leach, many worried about the Big 12 program losing some of their top recruits.  For now, some of those worries can be put to rest.

Denton Ryan quarterback Scotty Young, who committed to Tech last March, will uphold his oral commitment to the university, according to Adam Boedeker at the Denton Record Chronicle.

Young met with new Red Raider head coach Tommy Tuberville, offensive coordinator Neal Brown and quarterback/graduate assistant Sonny Cumbie -- and was sold on the program's new offensive scheme.

Meanwhile, a court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Lubbock in the dispute between Texas Tech Leach. Attorneys for Leach want to speed up the gathering of depositions and documents in his breach of contract lawsuit -- which also alleges libel and slander.
