DeMarcus Lawrence Feeling Good

Lawrence returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time since breaking his foot in camp

Cowboys second round pick DeMarcus Lawrence will return to practice on Wednesday for the first time since suffering a fractured foot in training camp and has said the foot “feels excellent” going in.

The rookie defensive end is certainly confident--he said before his injury that he was going for double-digit sacks in his rookie season--but admits that he’ll have to allow some time to get his feet back under him.

I’ve been playing football all my life, so I don’t feel like I’m way behind,” Lawrence said, per Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, “but I feel like I’m going to have to get better, quicker.”

Lawrence spent the first six weeks of the season on the injured reserve/designated to return list. In that time, the Cowboys’ defense has been very pleasantly surprising, and has played a huge role in the team finishing that span with a 5-1 record.

“It feels great knowing that the team can produce and the things these guys are doing without you,” Lawrence said. “It just makes me feel like I can come in and help a lot more and we can be even better than we are right now.”
