Dallas' Witten Heads to School

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten is heading to school Tuesday with a McKinney ISD student.
Witten will pick up 5th grade student Shane Wells in a limo Tuesday morning, take him to Bennett Elementary in McKinney and then visit the Principal’s office before speaking to students about the importance of good health.
During the visit, Witten will lead kids in fitness activities, as part of NFL’s PLAY 60 campaign, helping youth get 60 minutes of exercise a day.
Witten is one of 34 NFL players participating in the NFL's Take A Player To School program, a sweepstakes where one student in each of the 32 NFL markets and two non-NFL markets will get to take an NFL player to school.
This year, students will have the opportunity to work with a player to plan an NFL Ultimate P.E. Class.
Additionally, the NFL and Plano-based JCPenney will donate funds to support schools in each of these communities, giving children the chance to benefit from programs that encourage the development of healthy lifestyles, improved social skills and enhanced academic performance. Each school will also receive and equipment donation from Wilson, the official football of the NFL.
The JCPenney Afterschool Fund is a charitable organization committed to advancing the afterschool movement in JCPenney communities by increasing access for children in need, inspiring innovation in the field, and elevating awareness of the value of afterschool programs.
Since 1999, JCPenney and the JCPenney Afterschool Fund have contributed more than $70 million to support programs that promote the academic, physical, and social development of children in afterschool centers nationwide. The JCPenney Afterschool Fund will provide more than 20,000 children with access to safe, life-enriching afterschool programs this year.
