DFW Olympians: What to Watch

More than a dozen North Texans will compete in the XXX Olympic Summer Games and many of them will be in the action during the opening weekend.

Sarah Scherer - 10m Air Rifle

Texas Christian University's Sarah Scherer could be the first Olympian to get a medal as she competes in the 10-meter Air Rifle event. Qualifying takes place at 2:15 a.m. Central Time on Saturday, with finals at 5 a.m. Shooting will be featured LIVE ON NBC Sports Network from 5 a.m. to 5:45 a.m. CT Saturday.

Dana Vollmer - 100m Butterfly

Granbury's own Dana Vollmer will try to bring home gold this weekend in the 100-meter Butterfly. On Saturday, she swims at 4:25 a.m. CT and semifinals at 1:40 p.m. Qualifying heats will be shown on NBC 5 at 12:30 p.m. The final in the 100-meter Butterfly is set for 1:30 p.m. CT Sunday. You'll be able to watch the final on NBC 5 during primetime Olympics coverage 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. CT Sunday.

Tamilka Catchings - Women's Basketball

Duncanville's Tamika Catchings and Team USA take on Croatia LIVE ON NBC 5 at 10:45 a.m. CT Saturday. It's the first of many rounds, with Team USA Women's Basketball taking the court every other day through the duration of the Olympic Summer Games.

Deron Williams - Men's Basketball

The Colony's Deron Williams takes to the court as Team USA takes on France LIVE ON NBC Sports Network at 8:30 a.m. CT Sunday. Men's Basketball games are set for every other day throughout the Olympics.

Errol Spence, Jr. - Boxing

Welterweight boxer Errol Spence Jr. steps into the Olympic ring for the first time on Sunday. He tweeted on Friday "I fight Sunday versus Brazil." in the Round of 32 starting at 9 a.m. CT Sunday. Lightweight and welterweight boxing will be featured LIVE ON CNBC Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. CT.
