Cowboys RBs Coach: Elliott the “Most Complete” Back I've Ever Scouted

The Cowboys drafted Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick on Thursday

Suffice it to say Dallas Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown is happy with the team’s first round pick.

Despite the much talked about devaluation of running backs seen in the NFL in recent years, the Cowboys selected Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick in the draft on Thursday night. He was the only running back taken on the first day.

Position coaches always want their teams to draft good prospects in the positions they coach, but Brown said he didn’t exactly have to sell the team on Elliott.

Well, I think he did most of the work,” Brown said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He put it out on tape... It wasn't just me, it was everybody on board, the whole coaching staff was on board. We just wanted this guy because we felt he could help our whole team. Not just the offense.

“I’ve been coaching in the NFL for eight years. He's the most complete back that I've been able to scout...When you get a guy like that, and you get an opportunity to get him, you got to go get him because they're going to elevate everything around you.”
