Cowboys Players Recognized by Pro Football Writers of America

After already being named to the Pro Bowl, Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and center Zack Martin continue to be recognized for the year they had.

This time by the Professional Football Writers of America.

Martin was named to the All-NFL first team, while Lawrence made the All-NFC team.

Lawrence had a bounce back season in 2017. After missing nine games in 2016 due to a back injury, he started all 16 games this season and had a career-high 14.5 sacks. That was good enough to finish tied for second in the NFL.

This is Martin’s third straight selection by the PFWA since entering the league as a first-round pick of the Cowboys in 2014. Martin recently had a clean-up procedure on his right elbow that will cost him to miss the Pro Bowl. He is expected to be ready for the offseason program.

One Cowboys rookie was also recognized by the PFWA. Ryan Switzer was named to the All-Rookie Team as a kick returner. Switzer averaged 25.5 yards on 23 kick returns and 8.8 yards on 28 punt returns, which includes an 83-yard touchdown in the win over the Washington Redskins in Week 13.

Switzer also had six catches for 41 yards, along four rushes for five yards this season.
