Joining Mavs owner Mark Cuban as DFW sports bosses mimicking The Six Million Dollar Man, Jerry Jones will arrive at training camp in Oxnard with an artificial hip.
In fact, Jones will speak at the team’s annual “state of the union” kickoff press conference tomorrow afternoon, just eight days after hip replacement surgery.
Jones, 72, downplayed a noticeable limp last season but decided on the surgery two months ago. He underwent the procedure on his left hip July 21 in Dallas and isn’t expected to miss any days or work during camp in California.
In other words, we’re reminded again that he’s a tough, old coot. Before camp in 2010 he underwent rotator cuff surgery to repair an old football injury.
Jones isn’t expected to need a cane or hovercraft to whiz around camp. Somehow it’ll be comforting to see him in his trademark golf cart.
