Cowboys Have “Tough Decision” at Right Tackle

Both Doug Free and Jermey Parnell are headed for free agency this offseason

As the Dallas Cowboys staff gets to work on evaluating the 2014 season and getting ready for 2015 and beyond, they have a serious decision to make at the right tackle position.

Both of the players they used there in 2014, Doug Free and Jermey Parnell, are set to become free agents this offseason. Free was good when healthy but he missed five regular season games and both playoff games with foot and ankle injuries, and Parnell played well in his place in those seven contests.

We’ll have to make a tough decision there with Doug and Jermey,” executive vice president Stephen Jones told the team’s website. “Hopefully we’ll at least keep one of them.”

Parnell certainly impressed the Dallas staff with his play in 2014, but teams with a need at tackle have likely had an eye on him as well.

“That’s another decision we have to make,” Jones said. “I think Jermey played really well and I think a lot of teams will throw on the tape and watch him play and probably a lot of people will consider him a starter.”
