Couples' Love Goes Hand In Hand With Love of Mavs

Some people celebrate their 30th anniversary with a fancy dinner, a party with friends, or maybe a new piece of jewelry. But for Mark and Lynda Thompson, 30 years of love and marriage go together like a hanging jump shot and a slam dunk.

Through decades together, raising kids, and running a family business, the Thompson's season tickets to the Dallas Mavericks games gave them a standing date night. And, along the way they became bigger fans of the team -- and each other.

"Basketball's a lot like marriage, you have the dry seasons and the winning streaks and then you have the championship season's you remember," Lynda Thompson said. "And I've gotten a lot of technical fouls too," added her husband.

So, to celebrate 30 years together, the Thompsons decided to take their love for each other and their favorite team on the road.

They're travelling to Mavs games in 30 cities between now and their anniversary next year. Along the way they're documenting the journey on a Facebook page called "Love Those Mavs."

The Facebook page now gets them recognized sometimes in the stands, and has even won them some cheers from opposing fans. On a road trip to San Antonio, a couple of Spurs fans bought them dinner.

"I take back most of what I said about the Spurs....most," Mark said.

Through all of the games, the flights, the hotels in strange cities, the Thompsons say their love has grown stronger.

Nine trips down now, 21 more to go. Marriage is never an easy lay-up. But for the Thompson's reaching the 30 year mark - it's all net.
