It seemed highly unlikely that the Texas Rangers would bring back Neal Cotts in 2015 after a 2014 season that fell far below his previous performance with the Rangers. Even though the club is looking at a massive shortage of left-handed relief with pitchers and catchers set to report to Arizona in a few weeks, it's now official that Cotts won't be in a Rangers uniform.
The free agent lefty inked a one-year deal worth a reported $3 million to pitch for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2015, as he'll join another Rangers relief pitcher, Corey Knebel, who was dealt last week for Yovani Gallardo.
Cotts came off a four-year big-league absence in 2013 and put up a 1.11 ERA for the Rangers, earning some pub for AL Comeback Player of the Year honors. Then last year, as things began to go downhill, Cotts' performance suffered to the tune of a 4.32 ERA.
