Contractors Make Progress on Allen Stadium Repairs

Contractors are making progress in fixing the cracks at Allen's $60 million stadium.

The school board announced Monday that phase one of the repairs, which includes reinforcing the scoreboard with steel beams and concrete columns, should be done by November.

Allen school officials closed the stadium this year after structural cracks and other problems were found.

The arena was built just two years ago and seats 18,000 people. Forensic engineers reported finding extensive design flaws, which Superintendent Lance Hindt has called "engineering failures."

Crews are also currently working on the second phase of repairs to fix the concourse. That work is expected to be completed by May 1, 2015.
