Christine Michael Loses a Yard in Cowboys Debut

The Cowboys traded for running back Christine Michael a week before the opener

Ahead of Sunday night’s matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints, a fair amount was made of the fact that running back Christine Michael was active.

Michael was acquired by the Cowboys in a trade almost a month ago, but until last night, he hadn’t so much as been on the field for a snap.

"You'll see him on real short-yardage situations, especially if we get a chance in the red zone," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told 105.3-FM The Fan before the game, via the Dallas Morning News. “That's where we think he can add something. He's low to the ground.”

Indeed, the Cowboys attempted to use Michael in this way in the fourth quarter, on a 3rd-and-1, but the former Seahawk really never had a chance on the play. He hit the hole--or rather, the area where the hole was presumably supposed to be--and was pushed back, losing a yard on the play.
