Byron Jones Returns, Says Shoulder Issue “No Big Deal”

Jones returned to practice Tuesday after missing a week and a half with a shoulder injury

Cowboys first round pick Byron Jones went through a full practice on Tuesday for the first time since suffering a left shoulder injury a week and a half ago, and did not wear a harness on the shoulder. The cornerback/safety came away from the workout feeling optimistic.

It felt great,” Jones said, per the Dallas Morning News. “Going out there hitting people, I didn’t think about it once throughout the entire practice. It’s one of those things it may flare up again. It’s no big deal. For me, as long as it’s structurally sound, that’s going to keep me at ease. If it’s not popping out, sliding out, I’m happy. I can deal with a little bit of pain.”

The Cowboys have been working Jones at both corner and safety in training camp but as Jon Machota of the Morning News points out, they could refocus his efforts on the cornerback position in the wake of Orlando Scandrick’s season-ending knee injury.

“It felt good to be out there with the guys,” Jones said. “A little winded but the shoulder feels great.”
