Broncos Deal Marshall to Miami for Draft Picks

With the NFL draft just over a week away, another big name wide receiver is on the move - Denver’s Brandon Marshall.

According to ESPN, Marshall is being shipped to the Miami Dolphins for a second-round pick in this year’s draft and a possible second-round pick in the 2011 draft.

Marshall, a talented but controversial player, scored 10 touchdowns and posted his third consecutive 100-catch season while making his second straight trip to the Pro Bowl in 2010. However, he was involved in several off the field altercations and repeatedly clashed with Broncos head coach Josh McDaniel.

The deal gives the Broncos three picks in the first two rounds of next Thursday’s draft, but leaves them with a gaping hole at an important position. The team’s second leading receiver, Jabar Gaffney, only caught 54 passes for 732 yards and two touchdowns in 2009.

The trade also shakes up the AFC East, which already got a jolt on Sunday night following the trade that shipped troubled former Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the New York Jets for a fifth-round pick.
